So I wasn’t sure how to organize this. I have tons of photographs of USA border signs, several of the same states from different entrances, angles, and times. Should I go in alphabetical order and how should that be divided up? I don’t want too many pictures in one post. There could be many ‘A’ states and not enough ‘Q’ states. In fact, we don’t have a state that begins with ‘Q’. But let’s get real, this could easily be solved by itemizing them, allowing for extra pictures and dividing them up based on numbers and not so much equal parts of the alphabet. (Did you get any of that?)
But my real problem is what happens when I venture out again and I visit a state that’s name falls at the beginning of the alphabet and I’ve already covered that in a blog post?
Should I go in location order? For example divide it up into regions? west coast, east coast, south and north? But then the problem would be the same. I would venture out and visit a state that belongs to a certain coast that I’ve already covered as a blog post.
So I think it’s obvious I’ll be revisiting old posts and updating them when I visit a new state. I personally don’t like this idea because…. wait, I’m going to check on something.
Okay I’m back. Problem solved. Did you know you can change the time stamp on a blog post? So that means an old post can be new again. It would kinda suck if you updated an old post but no one ever saw it because it wasn’t at the top of the list. But then again there are ways around that too, like simply creating a new post about an old post you’ve just updated and linking to it.
Either way, it’s all good now. I wish I had some whiskey to celebrate. I get really giddy when I fix a problem, no matter how trivial to someone else.
Needless to say I still haven’t come up with a perfect way to organize the states. Perfection has never been my strong suit.
Sooooo I say, what would the Census Bureau do? (ya know for a long time I thought it was spelled ‘Consensus’ Bureau – you’re never too old to learn!)
Anyways, so what WOULD they do?
Region 1 (Northeast)
Division 1 (New England) Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut
Division 2 (Mid-Atlantic) New York, Pennsylvania, New Jersey
Region 2 (Midwest) (Prior to June 1984, the Midwest Region was designated as the North Central Region.)
Division 3 (East North Central) Wisconsin, Michigan, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio
Division 4 (West North Central) Missouri, North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska, Kansas, Minnesota, Iowa
Region 3 (South)
Division 5 (South Atlantic) Delaware, Maryland, District of Columbia, Virginia, West Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Florida
Division 6 (East South Central) Kentucky, Tennessee, Mississippi, Alabama
Division 7 (West South Central) Oklahoma, Texas, Arkansas, Louisiana
Region 4 (West)
Division 8 (Mountain) Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, Nevada, Utah, Colorado, Arizona, New Mexico
Division 9 (Pacific) Alaska, Washington, Oregon, California, Hawaii
Works for me. Time to work dat ass. Unless you can think of something better?
By the way, I’m on Instagram now. Seems fitting as I have tons of food and cat photos on my iphone. Come on now think about the majority of stuff you’ve seen on that site. Okay okay you’re right, that’s not true. I kid! And I do have other stuff on my phone besides food and Pepe that I can post.. like photos of my shoes in various bathrooms.
Of course there’s other projects in the works… but I’m not gonna count my chickens before they hatch. I’ve been a busy bee lately.
